In this year’s Best City Awards, Good Practices were awarded
The Municipality of Pilea- Hortiatis was honored with the award of energy saving in this year’s award ceremony “Best City Awards”, confirming that it plays the leading part as far as the environmental issues are concerned. The important institution registers and rewards exceptional practices among all the municipalities and regions of Greece, plenty of which are pioneering.
It is worth mentioning that the evaluation of every category takes place through an online ratingsystem by the members of the jury and the prizes result from the average rating of every nomination. The prizes awarded are the bronze, silver and gold medal.
This year’s Best City Awards took place at the Serafio Center of Sports, Culture and Innovation of the Municipality of Athens.
The first place that was won by the Municipality of Pilea- Hortiatis, refers to the energy management and aims to the optimization of the energy efficiency in public buildings. The gold price was about the “GreenSoul” project, which main objective is to achieve higher energy efficiency in public buildings, by using eco friendly devices. Within the framework of the project a two-fold strategy is applied: it persuades users to increase their energy-awareness and change their e-consumption habits and simultaneously it embeds intelligence into the networked devices, to allow them autonomously decide about their operational mode for energy efficiency purposes. Six pilot buildings within Europe are pilots in the GREENSOUL project.
The Mayor of Pilea- Hortiatis Ignatios Kaitezidis expressed his great delight for the distinction the Municipality achieved, while accepting the prize.
Companies, entities and municipalities from all over the country participated and were awarded in the event. It is worth mentioning that the awards were under the Honorary Support of the Hellenic Green Cities Network, the Hellenic Institute of Electric Vehicles, the Hellenic Water Association and the Hellenic Association of Computer Engineers.
